Story Seats – the exciting new community arts and literacy project – launches Thursday 12 October at 1pm in the forecourt of the Maryborough Resource Centre.

All community members are welcome to attend the launch and enjoy some fun Story Seat activities.

The Story Seat project invites local community groups to choose an Australian poem, lyric or short story and working with community artists and the Maryborough library, go on to explore and create stories about our community – its characters, places, history and future stories.

These stories will then be developed as original community art works to decorate 12 sculpted Story Seats. Each seat is created in the shape of an open book and once completed will be permanently positioned at various locations throughout the municipality to form a tourist trail. The trail will be interactive and linked by QR codes to additional online stories, media and information.

Community groups interested being a part of the Story Seats project can contact the Adrian W. Masterman-Smith, Go Goldfields Arts Project Officer, on 0433 111 068.
